A City Transformed: A Teacher's Journey of Faith and Art
I am an international teacher who spent over seven years in Guangzhou, China. I was there when the COVID-19 epidemic had its first case in November 2019, only seven hours away from patient Zero. It was a terrifying experience as the disease spread and led to over a thousand deaths per day.
The Republic of China implemented a one-world order, and the police locked down every town. We didn't know how the virus was spreading, so the police pushed us out of our apartments to combat the disease. Panyu Guangzhou became a ghost town, and all the schools were closed. We were forbidden to go outside, and we felt lonely. Martial Law was in effect.
To save money, I moved in with other teachers and shared an apartment with a Muslim person. I was Christian. Despite our differences, we worked, prayed, and asked God to spare our lives.
We were cautious whenever we went outside. We would strip our clothes at the front door to avoid bringing COVID-19 inside our homes. God kept me safe, and I watched as others around me died. Living in this situation was like being in a war against humanity. Americans had not yet faced the reality of COVID-19. I prayed before every Covid test, "Please, Lord, spare me!" I got closer to God than ever before in my life, and I know with certainty that there is a God who had his hands on me and protected me from harm.
You think you know it's a God, but you don't know until you know with certainty. I know there is a God who had his hands on me and protected me from harm; if He kept me alive, it had to be for a purpose! I gave myself a pseudonym (New Frank) and started writing inspirational articles in the Los Angeles Tribune Newspapers and other publications and retailers. I also began publishing Faith articles in China to spread the gospel.
Returning to the USA, the Lord led me to uncover the images from the Shroud of Turin. My goal was to show the world a message hidden in the Shroud's face through art.
